This role demands high-volume accuracy, strong research skills, and a passionate understanding of watch history, movements, and precious metals.

Key Responsibilities

  • Authentication & Valuation: Conduct hands-on evaluations of vintage and modern luxury watches using loupes, movement gauges, scale instruments, and reference literature to verify authenticity, condition, and market value.
  • Cataloging & Description: Write compelling, precise, and historically accurate listing descriptions that drive buyer confidence and directly minimize item return rates.
  • Throughput & Workflow Efficiency: Partner with operational teams to maintain high-volume cataloging schedules without sacrificing evaluation standards or catalog accuracy.
  • Industry Engagement: Build and maintain active relationships with external horological experts, brand specialists, and service networks to assist with rare or complex authentications.
  • Quality Assurance & Standards: Drive continuous quality improvements in cataloging accuracy, ensuring all listings meet EBTH quality benchmarks.
  • Cross-Category Support: Assist operations with adjacent estate categories (such as fine jewelry, precious metals, and silver) during peak throughput cycles as needed.

Qualifications & Requirements

  • Watch Expertise: 5+ years of professional experience in luxury watch evaluation, WOSTEP, AWCI-CW21 or equivalent horology certification, estate jewelry, or auction house cataloging.
  • Technical Proficiency: Fluent in using standard horological tools (loupes, calipers, movement openers, metal testing kits) to identify references, calibers, and modifications.
  • Material Knowledge: Demonstrated understanding of precious metals (gold, silver, platinum), gemstone grading basics, and luxury watch manufacturing standards.
  • Tech-Savvy: Proficient with internal database inventory systems, Google Workspace, and Microsoft Office; comfortable working in a digital-first inventory environment.
  • Communication: Clear, professional written communication for detailed catalog notes and effective verbal communication across internal teams.
  • Operational Drive: Self-motivated team player capable of managing a fast-paced production schedule independently.
